Making Your Will
Making a will is the classic task which people put off, and off, and off. At
Berwins, we do our utmost to make the process as simple as possible. We aim, in
dealing with this important task for you, to do so in the spirit of the firm's
culture of exceptional care- care for our clients, for our own staff, and for
the work that we do.
In preparing wills, we seek to achieve the following:
- Clarity and brevity, using plain English to the greatest extent possible. We
are well aware of the multi-page tomes, written in dense legalese, which many
people associate with the writing of wills. Your will is, however, yours in its
essence- your last testament, and should be written in a way that you and your
family understand.
- Ease in the preparation of your will- we will be able to take instructions from
you following a diagnostic meeting, from your own notes, or from your completing
our specially prepared questionnaire.
- Sound legal advice on the implications of your intentions, with the benefit of
our experience in the area so as to minimise the tax penalties, where this is
a consideration, provide for the unforeseen, and achieve an effective solution
to your needs.
In addition to preparing your wills, we are able to offer an executorship service.
Whereas you may have family and close friends with the time and expertise to carry
out the functions of an executor, many people do not. We are happy to accept appointments
as executors either as a firm, as individuals within the firm, or jointly with
your friends or family.
We also, of course, will be able to store your will safely for you, not only
in fireproof secure accommodation, but in parallel on our information technology
systems to assist in the convenient and economic updating of your wishes. The
ability to update a will goes to its essence, and we believe our capacity to do
this effectively is a true benefit.
