The 1st of July was a big day for me as I took over as Head of Department took over as Head of Department of the Residential Property Team We call this role “Team Leader” at Berwins and it’s is an accurate description. Since starting at Berwins in January, it has become apparent that the firm as a whole is one big team divided into five smaller units.
Teamwork is one of Berwins’ core values and is taken seriously. I saw this in action in my own team in the very busy days in March leading up to the Stamp Duty changes. We were busier than any of us could ever remember but what stood out was that the moment anyone had a free half hour, it was offered to a colleague who was less fortunate. As a result of this, we were able to get every one of our clients’ completions through for the end of the month.
The teams also look after each other across the firm and we like nothing more than to come together regularly whether it be for our monthly staff meeting or events like our 30th birthday celebrations. There are even plans for a group of us from across the firm to start meeting once a month to practice our newly found Spanish skills!
This cooperation is also found in our professional roles and my own team often collaborate with our Life and Family colleagues, as well as the Business team to ensure that our clients have as broad a range of expert advice as possible.
As a country, we are facing interesting times ahead politically and economically but I know that with my own team in Property and the others across the firm joining together, we will be well placed to ensure that we not only give excellent advice but prove ourselves again to be no ordinary lawyers.
