Lasting powers of attorney
Like many of the issues we deal with, this one isn’t something people like to think about, but one we encourage our clients to consider. If you were suddenly unable to handle your own legal affairs, either through ill-health or failing mental capacity, who would take this on?
We can help you set up a Lasting Power of Attorney, so you can feel confident that your affairs will be properly dealt with, in the way you would wish, should you be incapable of dealing with them yourself.
We can also advise you should you be looking after a relative or friend’s financial affairs. We will review this with you to make sure you are handling them with proper authority, avoiding legal problems for yourself and the person you are helping.
Other areas we can help with include: Enduring Powers of Attorney, including registration, Office of the Public Guardian (Court of Protection) applications, ‘Living Wills’ or Advance Directives, Trusts for beneficiaries with disabilities, Statutory Wills, Community Care Assessments, and other issues relating to incapacity.
