Leading Harrogate law firm, Berwins, has backed an ‘outstanding’ local school’s ambitious plans to transform its outdoor play space.
The sponsorship will help Western Primary School on Harrogate’s Cold Bath Road realise plans to refurbish the playground – currently a very limited space – and provide a new, imaginative and challenging resource for coordinated play and sports.
The first phase of two phases of construction – the creation of a Multi-Use Games Area and a Side Activity Playground - are set to begin in late July with the aim of being ready for use by children at the start of the new school year.
“We are proud to help make a difference to the experience of young people within the Western community and live out the culture of care which sits at the heart of Berwins’ ethos” said Managing Director Sarah Smith, herself a former parent at the school.
Reflecting on the support, Head Teacher, Cheryl Smith added “With almost 500 pupils and outdoor space at a premium, making the most of our playground is not always easy, though the developments we have planned will go a substantial way to maximising this area.”
Lucy Ogden of Western Primary PTA added “From the outset, this important campaign was designed to be for the community and funded by the community. The support of a well-respected local firm like Berwins certainly helps that vision to become reality.”
