Leading Harrogate law firm Berwins is hitting the ground running in 2021 in more ways than one.
Throughout the month of January, staff will be fundraising for charity partner Henshaws by running, walking and cycling towards an ambitious mileage target.
All staff activity is taking place within the latest government guidelines as participants limit contact and remain local.
Commenting on the initiative, Senior Partner Paul Berwin said “I’m been delighted to see the Berwins team come together behind this initiative. We have keen runners and cyclists who are upping their weekly millage, families incorporating activity into their home-schooling arrangements and even someone using their stairs to climb the equivalent of Ben Nevis."
“Assuming current restrictions are adhered to, taking time to pause and get outside is so important for our physical and mental health. This initiative actively supports that and reiterates that fact that – while we may be physically apart, we remain together.”
The initiative kicks off a second year of support for the charity which supports those living with sight loss and a range of other disabilities to go beyond expectations.
Chair of Berwins’ CSR Committee Martin Whincup added “It’s fair to say that 2020 was an unprecedented year for all of us – plans have changed and adapted to a new way of living. For those living with disabilities, that has been particularly difficult and often extremely isolating."
"As a firm, we’ve been truly inspired by the way that the
team at Henshaws has adapted to the challenges that the Coronavirus pandemic
has thrown up and worked in extraordinary ways to support some of the most
vulnerable in our society. By launching this initiative and pushing our support
on into 2021, we hope to support that work to continue."
