Leading Harrogate law firm Berwins has teamed up with Dementia Forward to launch a campaign which will deliver lasting benefits for the Yorkshire charity.
The firm will make a charitable donation for each Lasting Power of Attorney requested during November.
The campaign will also be used to highlight some of the challenges faced by dementia sufferers and their families as part of a year of fund and awareness-raising initiatives Berwins is undertaking for its charity of the year.
“Since partnering with Dementia Forward at the start of the year, it has been a privilege to work closely with the team there and learn more about the issues facing those who are dealing with a dementia diagnosis.” said Berwins CSR committee member Heidi Motley.
“We’re proud to maintain our support for this fantastic North Yorkshire based charity”
Commenting on the initiative, Berwins’ Head of Court of Protection Dan Snedden said, “People often shy away from planning for what will happen when they are no longer able to make decisions for themselves.”
“It’s understandable as the decisions can be painful, but with an increasing number of people in the UK becoming unable to make decisions for themselves – it is estimated that over one million people could have dementia in the UK by 2025 – taking legal steps to prepare for the future is increasingly important and will help to reduce the stress and uncertainty that can arise. A Lasting Power of Attorney is a vital document.”
The campaign runs throughout November with a donation of 10% of legal fees will be made for any appointment which is requested during the month.
