Berwins, has continued its title sponsorship of Harrogate International Festivals’ Berwins Salon North for a third year.
Salon North is the brainchild of cultural curator, Harrogate-born Helen Bagnall. An international award-winning screenwriter and author, Helen co-founded Salon London in 2008 which went on to become a key part of the capital’s cultural scene. She also delivers Salons for Latitude and Festival No 6.
Since its launch in the town in 2012, Berwins Salon North has become a key strand in the diverse festival portfolio.
It offers TED-style talks, consisting of three expert speakers who take to the stage to create a night of stimulating ideas in art, science and psychology, designed to change your life for the better, dubbed ‘a revolutionary movement for the heart and mind’.
Berwins and Harrogate International Festivals are long-standing organisations in the Spa town; Berwins recently celebrated 30 years and the Festival marked its 50th anniversary in 2016.
The full-service law firm’s employment, family, life, commercial property, IP and IT teams were ranked as among the best in the North and West Yorkshire region in the industry guides Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.
Berwins MD, Sarah Smith, said: “We’re incredibly proud to sponsor Salon North and to have witnessed it grow into such a success – it’s become the talk of the town. In 2016, Salon was voted as number six in the ‘Top 100 Things to do in the World’ by GQ magazine.
Sarah added: “Berwins Salon North engages with what it means to be human, philosophically, emotionally and intellectually. It’s a great alignment to help support the Festivals bring such leading minds to Harrogate in this innovative series, but fundamentally we believe it’s important to support the Arts in the community in which we live and work.”
Sharon Canavar, CEO of Harrogate International Festivals, said: “As an arts charity, only 2% of our income is from public money so we are very welcome of Berwins sponsorship to help us continue deliver such an innovative strand of the Festivals.”
